Test Automation Architecture

Design and refactor end-to-end test frameworks that scale with your product instead of fighting it.

Test Automation Architecture

The Problem

Tests break on every minor UI change. Engineers hate working in the test repository.

The Solution

A cleanly architected framework with Page Object Models, API mocking, and strict linting rules.

The Outcome

A maintainable suite that scales with your product.

What this looks like in practice

Most organizations don't fail at writing tests; they fail at architecting frameworks. A poorly designed framework leads to duplicated code, fragile selectors, and thousands of hours wasted on maintenance.

I design and implement robust, scalable test automation frameworks from the ground up using modern tools like Playwright, Cypress, and REST Assured. If you have an existing suite that's rotting, I can audit it and refactor it into something your team actually trusts.

The end result is a framework where adding a new test feels easy, debugging a failure takes minutes instead of hours, and developers see the test suite as an asset — not a tax.

The deliverables

What's included

Architecture review or greenfield design

Audit of your existing suite or a fresh framework designed around your product, team size, and CI setup.

Page Object Model & API layer

Clean separation between intent (what the test does) and implementation (how it does it).

Reusable fixtures & test data

A test data strategy with factories, fixtures, and seed scripts so tests stay independent and fast.

Linting, types & quality gates

TypeScript strict mode, ESLint rules tuned for test code, and pre-commit hooks to keep the bar high.

Documentation & onboarding

READMEs, decision records, and a 1-hour onboarding video so new engineers can ship a test on day one.

Hand-off & 30-day support

Pair sessions with your team plus 30 days of async support after delivery.

The process

How I work with your team

  1. 01

    Discovery

Audit your codebase, suite, CI, and team workflow. 1–2 weeks.

  2. 02

    Blueprint

A written architecture proposal with trade-offs and example code.

  3. 03

    Build

I implement the foundation with your team in the loop, PR by PR.

  4. 04

    Hand-off

Workshops, docs, and 30-day async support so the team owns it.

Frequently asked

We already have a test suite. Can you fix it instead of starting over?+

Yes — most engagements start that way. I audit what's there, identify what's worth keeping, and refactor incrementally so you keep value while we improve.

Which framework do you recommend?+

It depends on stack and team. Playwright is my default for web/E2E, REST Assured or supertest for APIs. I won't push a tool that doesn't fit.

How long does this typically take?+

A focused 4–8 week engagement is common for a clean foundation; larger refactors run 2–3 months at part-time capacity.
